"We wanted to book a tour to make the most of our Louvre experience both for us and our children aged 11 and 13 rather than be overwhelmed with such an huge collection of art and the crowds.\nWe are not art experts and wanted to have a tour guide help us to get the most from the experience and enhance our understanding and appreciation of the amazing and notable pieces on display. We weren’t sure booking a group tour would keep them engaged and give us what we were after so we opted for a personal tour with Bibiana.\nWe found Bibiana to be warm, friendly and fun and in our time together she covered the early history of the Louvre when it was a palace showing us the old foundations and taking us back in time in the history of France before helping enlighten us on the evolution of Greek and Roman sculptures and art. Both my husband and I felt Bibiana gave us a whole new appreciation for the more famous pieces by classical masters and by the time we parted we felt like experts and could admire the art in a whole new way. \nWe appreciated that Bibiana also made sure to engage our children asking them questions and pointing out aspects to them throughout the tour as well.\nWe were able to skip the line to enter through an alternative entry which was also a bonus and time saver given we visited during the Summer when crowds are at their peak. Overall I definitely felt touring with Bibiana enhanced our overall Louvre experience. "

"If you are a jazz lover...and even a blues lover this tour is a MUST book experience. My husband and I were not sure what to expect- and this tour exceeded our expectations. "I booked this holiday excursion as surprise for my family and a celebration experience. I read up on \"With Locals\" and found Hugo. He is an art historian specializing on the paintings of Versailles. Although we wished we had time to visit Versailles, we were lucky enough to secure Hugo as a guide for the Louvre.\n\nHugo's thorough knowledge of the Louvre itself brought a unique and unexpected perspective. He took us down to the excavation site underneath the building, which was discovered during the installation of the I.M. Pei Pyramids in the 1980s. He talked about the construction and stonework and how the Seine River still makes its presence known. We were taken through to see the Venus de Milo, where he explained its construction (like Legos?) and her missing limbs. He brought us up close to Winged Victory (aka Nike) and how its wings bring balance to the statue. \n\nThere were so many interesting and new viewpoints that Hugo introduced us to. My favorite was the Mona Lisa. Honestly, I was not as interested in the painting until I heard about who she was and the truth behind her smile. It was an honest and poignant explanation that touched my heart. If you want to know, hire Hugo!\n\nIf you want a once-in-a-lifetime visit, spend the money and the time to engage a tour guide for the Louvre, especially Hugo. So many people mill around looking at paintings and statues mindlessly without the possibility of understanding their significance. The Louvre came to life with Hugo. I now understand the depth of the institution and had a more meaningful experience. \n\n"
