Reviews from guests about our tours and locals
"Sebastian was knowledgeable, personable and professional. He imparted a lot of information on the history of Cape Town – much of which we had not known - in an accessible way. Sebastian has a great sense of humour which helped keep things light. We walked and drove and he pointed out many details along the way which we would never have noticed. He was punctual and courteous and always mindful of our surroundings keeping us at ease.\nHe kindly dropped us off at the Waterfront and followed up by sending us recommendations for restaurants going over and above what we expected. A great guide that we would highly recommend to others. \n"
"We are a family of four (parents, two daughters 17 and 10) who took a Cape Peninsula day trip with Sebastian. We had a wonderful time and would recommend this to anyone who is considering it. Sebastian told us about the city and suburbs as well as the history and geography of the area as we headed further south. He was happy to answer any of our questions about what we were seeing, about South Africa, or about the Cape in particular. We made multiple stops and Sebastian made sure to get some family photos of us at different locations. We never felt rushed, we had enough time at each spot to explore, and it was lovely to learn more about Cape peninsula from and expert *and* not have to worry about driving ourselves. We would do this trip again with Sebastian in a heartbeat. "
"Our family (parents plus 17 year old and 10 year old daughters) spent our first afternoon in Cape Town walking and eating and learning with Christopher on the 10 Tastings of Cape Town experience. It was a great way to start our time in South Africa. Right up front, Chris told us that there were no questions or topics that would be off-limits, and we really enjoyed our few hours with him. We ate some wonderful food and learned about the culinary and cultural melting pot that is Cape Town, as well as a lot more about South African history. He arranged vegetarian food for us, which was delicious. We sampled Cape Malay food in addition to some Dutch derived goodies and traditional foods. "
"We had an amazing tour with Gilbert, perfect for our first day in Capetown! We were introduced to many local food specialties including bunny chow, chakalaka, rooibos tea, the famous gatsby sandwich and more. Come hungry!! \n\nGilbert was incredibly generous with his time, showed us many of the city sights and gave us a huge dose of South African history…from the Dutch East Indian Company to the Boer wars to how apartheid and its racial classifications impacted his family and the local communities, leaving a legacy that continues to shape politics and socioeconomic conditions today. \n\nWe highly recommend Gilbert as a fantastic guide for any kind of Capetown tour! "
"Theo is fabulous. He is passionate about the history of his home, and is easily able to transmit this passion to his guests. We learned so much, and it was so enjoyable, too!\n\nWe highly recommend Theo!"
"We started later than the designated time so Gilbert suggested we see the Mandela exhibit at City Hall. And rather than dashing off, he was generous enough of his time to allow us to take a quick walk through a wonderfully curated short exhibit of Mandela and his years in Cape Town. \n\nBut that set the stage for the rest of the tour. Gilbert shared his personal story of his family and how they were displaced from District 6 and resettled in the Townships being offered for relocation. \n\nGilbert shared vintage photographs of the District and overlaid where appropriate what stood at which spot and how the area is being rebuilt. \n\nThe transition into Woodstock was an eye opener. Both from the beautiful street art work and the history of the neighborhood. \n\nWe ended the tour on a different note. \nHaving been to the Old Biscuit Mill, Gilbert offered to walk us to Observation. An area undergoing gentrification and with a totally different vibe. \n\nWe said goodbye with him recommending a restaurant for lunch for us. A badly needed respite from all that walking. \n\nCertainly a very entertaining afternoon. Something we’d never have done on our own and we leave richer, knowing more of the history and background of Cape Town. "
"Absolutely fantastic experience with Sebastian in Cape Town, he made every moment special. His deep knowledge of the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems brought everything to life. he curated the perfect balance of adventure, culture, and relaxation. He was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and having fun. Thanks to him, we saw Cape Town through a local’s eyes. Highly recommended!\n"
"Gilbert was incredibly knowledgeable and took us to hidden gems in the city that we would never have discovered on our own. The variety of local dishes we sampled were amazing, and the insights into the culture and history of each location made the experience even more enriching. If you're looking for a unique way to explore Cape Town, I highly recommend this tour!"
"Fun, competent and professional person. \nIt was a pleasure to spend a day with him. \nHe showed us Cape Town (as much as you can see in a single day) in exactly the way we wanted. \nWhen we return we will definitely contact him for a new tour. \nAbsolutely recommended!"
"We spent 4 fantastic hours on a walking tour with wonderful Sebastian. \n\nWe saw such a variety of areas and sights in Cape Town and felt we had a much fuller understanding of the historical backdrop, as well as a unique insight into the city's present, and the daily life of a local.\n\nSebastian was a lot of fun and made sure the tour was perfectly tailored to us. We came away feeling we now knew Cape Town much better than we ever would have discovering it on our own. \n\nWe're glad we booked it for near the start of our trip. It also helped us to feel safe in the City on our own for the rest of the trip, as we were able to ask Sebastian for advice and guidance and also see what a friendly place it was, and with excellent security presence within the city. \n\nSebastian generously followed up after our tour with lots of suggestions for the rest of our trip. \n\nThanks for everything Sebastian, we're so glad we got to meet and spend time with you. \n\nVictoria & Brett, UK"
